Dear friends of house,
we are very pleased to announce that pre-orders are now live for Ulver’s original soundtrack to Justin Oakey's new Riverhead motion picture. We adore the glacial feel of this movie-music project and hope you will too. The director’s own words on the project can be found here.
This score was recorded earlier this summer by core trio (Kristoffer Rygg, Tore Ylwizaker and Jørn H. Sværen) further enlisting their talented friends Ole-Henrik Moe and Kari Rønnekleiv who play various stringed instruments. In our humble opinion, this recording shows Ulver at their most subtle, brooding and delicate. An almost eloquent silence, so to speak.
This of course comes as a somewhat unexpected Christmas surprise – as per instruction by the band – and vinyls will be shipping out already December 9th. Think of it as a form of season’s greeting from the band as they continue their work with next full-bodied offering The Assassination of Julius Caesar, due, we expect, around April 2017.
In further news, we are delighted to announce the signing of Teleplasmiste. The duo of Mark O. Pilkington (Strange Attractor Press, Raagnagrok, Urthona) and Michael J. York (Coil, Cyclobe, Stargazer’s Assistant). The pair explores nature and electricity through a combination of vintage and contemporary synthesisers and acoustic pipes, creating a sound that furthers the ‘heavy ambient’ continuum of minimal and kosmische musics.
Their new single ‘Fall of the Yak Man’ is a gloriously spaced out track from their forthcoming album Frequency is the New Ecstasy, also to be released by us next year. A beautiful and trippy video, by Teleplasmiste, for which can be found below:
We hope you are staying warm as the winter solstice approaches.
